Italy Music Tour - 22nd July

29 Jul 2013

Monday

The day started with a sleepy 2 hour coach journey to Florence with the spectacular motorway views missed by most of us who were dozing in between episodes of friends. When we eventually arrived in Florence we were met with a wave of heat as we stepped off the very well air conditioned coach.
safe to say no one was prepared for the heat that hit us. The coach was too cold, the streets were too hot, we couldn't win.  Only one thing could console the failing pupils now, over priced yet exceptional ice cream. It did not disappoint.
Spirits restored sight seeing was in order. Florence boasts many cultural and historical attractions, such as Michelangelo's statue of David, and bridges - the most famous being the Ponte Vecchio which is well known for containing shops the whole way along.
The city itself is exquisite, antique and beautiful, each cobbled street is entirely unique and a world away from the hustle and bustle of modern London.
Despite the heat everybody came together to perform the best concert of the tour so far, with all students joining in by clapping and dancing to the music when they weren't themselves performing. Highlights included the addition of the electric guitarists, whose set was, excuse the pun, electrifying.
There was a wonderful atmosphere in the square as we were very well received by the audience, made up of locals and parents and one Mr Seward with some fabulous moves. We do not hesitate in saying  it was a concert none of the performers will be quick to forget.
