Work for 06 May 2015

06 May 2015

Hi year 12,

I hope you are all well and working hard - thank you so much for cheering me up with your lovely cards and brownies, you are all great.

Could you please complete the following task today and as a revision exercise - you could do this for all the set works in preparation for the 18 mark question:

PLAN 2 x 18 mark essays in TODAY's LESSON (one is instrumental and one is vocal - you can work in pairs) - you don't have to write the 18 mark answers now but I certainly would do them when you are revising at home, using the mark scheme to check your points and answers. I have out a link to the mark scheme here again (you can find it on p17 of this link http://qualifications.pearson.com/content/dam/pdf/A%20Level/Music/2013/Exam%20materials/6MU03_01_msc_20100616.pdf)

VOCAL: Compare and contrast the structure and texture in Ohime se tanto by Monteverdi and Après in reve by Faure.

INSTRUMENTAL: Compare and contrast the structure and tonality in the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G by Bach and Sonata for horn, trumpet and trumpet: movement I by Poulenc.

Familiarise yourself with the paper by looking at past papers on the edexcel website - remember, Section A is composed of 2 listening questions (1 vocal and 1 instrumental) where you answer BOTH QUESTIONS; for Section B You either pick the vocal 10 mark and vocal 18 mark OR the instrumental 10 marks and instrumental 18 mark - you CANNOT FOR EXAMPLE PICK the vocal 10 mark and instrumental 18 mark. Finally, Section C is comprised of the harmony questions (with skeleton score) and 5x 4-part harmony chords that we have recently been doing in class and for hw.

Happy revising, I have everything crossed for you all!

Mrs Berg
