Make sure you are ready for GCSE Music

Have you done the following?

  1. Are you having Instrumental/singing lessons once a week?
  • It is preferable that you have lessons at school with one of our experienced peripatetic team, however if you have lessons outside of schoo,l that is also acceptable.  Ensure that your peripatetic teacher is aware that you need to perform a SOLO and an ENSEMBLE item on your instrument.  It is advisable to perform your ensemble item with your peripatetic teacher to ensure reliability, however you can also perform with a friend or in a Band.  The first Mock Exam is in MAY of Year 10.  The 2 pieces need to be Grade 3 standard as a minimum.
    2. Is your folder for the course ready?
  • You will need an A4 Lever Arch file, 13 dividers and plastic wallets.  You will download resources from this website which will go into your file.  This folder will contain all of your important documents, assessment information and revision notes.  Keep it safe!

   3. Do you have theoretical knowledge?
  • If you are struggling now, or at any point in the year with theoretical knowledge, it is important that you brush up on those basic skills.  Please enquire about theory lessons at the Performing Arts Office.

   4. Have you purchased the GCSE Anthology and CD for Unit 3 of the course?
