Pop Song Compositions - Feedback

Firstly - WELL DONE.  I am very proud of what you managed to achieve yesterday (with a little bit of push!!).  Below is your feedback.  All 4 songs could be used, if developed, as an actual composition.  Have a great weekend.

Compulsory Criteria

Criteria A - Use and development of Ideas = 5 marks
Criteria B - Exploitation of medium = 5 marks
Criteria C - Structure and Form = 5 marks

Optional Criteria
(we choose 3 of the strongest elements of your comp to mark)

Criteria D - Melody = 5 marks
Criteria E - Harmony/accompaniment = 5 marks
Criteria F - Texture = 5 marks
Criteria G - Tempol/Rhythm = 5 marks
Criteria H - Dynamic Contrasts = 5 marks
Criteria I - Use of Technology = 5 marks

Grade Boundaries:
A* = 90%    A = 80%   B  = 70%  C = 60%    D = 50%   E = 40%


 
Group 1 - Emily/James/Jeremy/Zanetta
Grade: 22/30 = 73% = B

Criteria A: Strong ideas that are developed to some extent = 3

Criteria B: Good use of instruments and vocals, some work needed to develop drum part = 3
Criteria C: Included a Pre-chorus and Bridge. Effective finish to the song by finishing on 1st line of verse= 5
Criteria D: A strong, catchy melody with a recognisable chorus and hook. A little out of range for female vocal = 4
Criteria E: Strong chord sequence with contrast in the Bridge section (minor). Try adding 2nds and 4ths to chords = 3
Criteria G: Good change of Tempo on Bridge to provide contrast.  Suitable tempo throughout = 4


 
 
Group 2- Ruby/Carys/Rachel/Ben/Dami
Grade: 24/30 = 80% = A (just! A = 80%, A* = 90%)

Criteria A: Strong ideas that are developed to some extent.  Good development towards the end of the song = 4

Criteria B: Good use of instruments and vocals, some work needed to develop drum part. Perhaps Dami could have added another drum part or beat boxing, or percussion? = 3
Criteria C: Included a Pre-chorus and Bridge= 5
Criteria D: A strong, catchy melody with a recognisable chorus. Could include some further improvisation at end = 4
Criteria E: Strong chord sequence with different chords in chorus and bridge (I think?). Try adding 2nds and 4ths to chords = 3
Criteria F: Drum part entered in chrous and changed to kick drum in V2.  Could include fills to signal changes = 4

 
Group 3- Hannah/Aaron/Alessandra/Josh/Gaby
Grade: 28/30 = 93% = A*  

Criteria A: Excellent ideas that are developed. Use of hook. Shorten the intro as it was too long! = 5

Criteria B: Instruments used idiomatically (each instrument was used for what it does the best!).  Excellent variation and contrast = 5
Criteria C: Included a Pre-chorus and Bridge. Shorten the intro = 4
Criteria D: A strong, catchy melody with a recognisable chorus = 4
Criteria E: Strong chord sequence with inclusion of 7ths.  Different chords used in chorus and bridge = 5
Criteria G: Excellent use of Tempo changes, stops. Good variety = 4

 
Group 4 - Mary/Chris/Luke/Sophie
Grade: 21/30 = 70% = B   

Criteria A: Good ideas that are developedto some extent. Include a hook. = 3

Criteria B: Good use of instruments - Drum part could be developed.  You only need 1 piano part = 3
Criteria C: Included an intro - did it have a pre-chorus? Bridge? = 4
Criteria D: A strong, catchy melody with a recognisable chorus = 4
Criteria E: Strong chord sequence.  Try adding 2nds and 4ths to chords = 4
Criteria G: Appropriate use of tempr throughout.  Try and vary the tempo = 3
