Programme Music Assessment Criteria

Level 5
  • To be able to identify all 7 elements of music and to able to demonstrate how these elements are used across a range of styles of music
  • To compose a piece of programme music that uses all of the elements of music effectively
  • Your piece clearly demonstrates the different parts to your story.  You have used a variety of instruments to show different characters and moods.
Level 4
  • To be able to identify most of the 7 elements and describe how these elements are used in music
  • To compose a piece of programme music that uses most of the elements of music effectively
  • Your piece demonstrates most the different parts to your story.
Level 3
  • To be able to identify what some of the 7 elements of music are
  • To compose a piece of programme music that uses some of the elements of music effectively
  • Your piece shows a development of a story but needs to be extended further
